Michelle Brown receives Golden Apple Award

Walnut Creek Middle School social worker, Michelle Brown, received a Golden Apple Award at the May 7, 2026 Board of Education meeting.
Brown was nominated by Walnut Creek resource room teacher, Marie Walker, for representing the district with professionalism, compassion and dedication.
Brown makes a meaningful impact, not only within the school but also in the wider community, through her volunteer work with Hospitality House. She manages the weekend food program at Walnut Creek Middle School and has led both holiday food programs this school year, reflecting the district’s commitment to supporting students and families beyond the school day.
“Michelle consistently models kindness, calmness and reliability,” said Walker. “She supports students beyond her caseload and offers a listening ear to colleagues, demonstrating empathy and teamwork that inspire those around her.”
“Michelle finds creative and flexible ways to meet the needs of students and staff, continually adjusting her schedule to provide support where it is needed most,” continued Walker. “She manages a large caseload while willingly taking on additional responsibilities, driven by a genuine desire to help others and make a positive difference.”
