Patrick Dudzinski named MSBOA District IV Band Teacher of the Year
Walled Lake Western band director, Patrick Dudzinski, was named the District IV Band Teacher of the Year by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA).
“I am honored to be recognized as Teacher of the Year by MSBOA District IV,” said Dudzinski. “All of my colleagues are equally deserving of this honor, and I am luck to be surrounded by incredible teachers.”
“Mr. Dudzinski exemplifies the highest standards of music educations,” said MSBOA District IV president Michael York. “He is deeply committed to his students, not only in their development as musicians but as young individuals, and he brings a remarkable level of skill, leadership and service to our profession.”
In addition to his work in the classroom, Dudzinski has served Walled Lake Consolidated Schools in many leadership roles including treasurer, vice president of solo and ensemble, vice president of workers, and hosted band and orchestra festivals at Walled Lake Western for many years.
Dudzinski is also the co-director of the Walled Lake Competitive Marching Band, which claimed the MCBA Flight 1 State Championship this fall beating out 6-time defending state champion, Rockford. They took home four of five caption awards in General Effect, Visual, Auxiliary and Percussion as well. It was the district’s first competitive marching band state championship since Walled Lake Central won in 2013.
